Has anyone heard what series Brendan is going to be competeing in this year besides Truck? I know it had been said he had a possible cup ride but since I heard this nothing more has been said. Anyone with any news would be greatly appreciated.

Hello... [12 Jan 2005|12:00am]

Hi. I am new to this community but I met Brendan this year and he was the nicest guy. He earned my respect instantaneously. I don't like what happened with Penske at the end of this year but I know he will be back.

Hey [22 Dec 2004|10:32am]

Hey everyone...I'm the newbie here. I dunno if we're just supposed to post news or what, but I can incorporate that into this. I absolutely love Brendan. I met him 3 times this past season, and he's the sweetest. He always tells me that I wear too much Junior junk. lol that makes me laugh. So I really did end up buying everything Kodak this year. I'm loaded, I even got the jacket and a tank top. But anyways, I can't believe what I read about Penske dropping him for Travis Kvapil. They had no reason to, and you really shouldn't drop a rookie after his first season. Look what happened with Casey Mears. He improved a LOT. But Brendan was 2nd in rookie standings, and finished pretty good in points, I think, for a first timer. And you can't blame the guy, cuz Penske brought him up directly from trucks with no Busch experience or Cup for that matter. Anyways, just thought I'd share my opinions. <3

Comfort from above: Spotters watch over drivers [04 Nov 2004|06:09pm]

"Spotting is all about trust," said driver Brendan Gaughan. "A spotter sees everything you can't. You have to trust his decisions because when you're in the car, you just can't see. You don't do anything unless the spotter tells you it's all right."

Gaughan constantly challenges Billy Holbrook to talk.

"When I'm driving through the turns, I'm like a golfer who doesn't want to hear anybody talk in the middle of his backswing," Rudd said. "I'm trying to pay attention and I don't want to hear anything unless something's wrong."

"I talk all the time. I'm a big mouth," Gaughan said. "I don't mind people talking when I'm racing. If I don't hear anything for a couple laps, I'll just say 'O Billy' and he knows to start talking. Give me something. I like to have things going through my head."

Brendan Gaughan Movie Interview [04 Nov 2004|06:05pm]

What is your favorite movie?
“There isn’t one, but the Harry Potter and Star Wars movies are my favorite movies. I like the sagas and epic of them. Before Harry Potter came out I would have just said ‘Star Wars’”

What type of movies do you like to watch?
“It’s like my music: if it’s out there I’m going to go see it.”

I hear you watch “Stroker Ace” and sing through it on a regular basis.
“I love “Stroker Ace.” The two greatest racing movies ever made were “Stroker Ace” and “Six Pack.” “Days of Blunder (Thunder)” was good but not as good as “Stroker Ace” and “Six Pack.”

What is the first movie you remember seeing?
“The first ones that stick in my head are the John Wayne movies because my dad is a John Wayne fan. I mean the Barbary Coast (hotel and casino) is named after a John Wayne movie. At all our hotels we have a John Wayne suite. John Wayne was a very big part of my daddy. I remember watching all the old westerns; back then it was grueling to sit through them. Now I look at them and I’m grabbing kids and saying, “You should watch these.”

All about bowling, Silly String, and those little hair scrunchies [31 Oct 2004|03:11pm]

by Brendan Gaughan

Once again, I waited until the last minute to write this, so it is pieced together. Bear with me, though, because from Silly String to bowling to hair, I will cover it all.

To start with, back in Charlotte, someone delivered a package containing Silly String to the Kodak Racing souvenir trailer. I thank you and my good friends, Kevin and Mandi Hamlin, thank you. Johnny "Cheeseburger" Kaufman, whom I’m sure you know by now is my motorcoach driver and best friend, on the other hand, well, let’s just say he is not in the thankful mood when it comes to mentioning the Silly String.

Hamlin and Mandi spent the night with me on the coach last Friday and the Silly String was part of our entertainment. Inevitably, Chee-Z-B was the unfortunate one as he was left with the mess to clean up. Although "Cheeseburger" wanted to kill us the next day and banish me from the coach, the fun was well worth the wrath. Kevin, Mandi and I always appreciate Silly String packages, because we are like 7 or something. The key is not to let the mighty "Cheese" see me with it.

Now, on to Martinsville.

Brendan Gaughan Qualifying Quotes - Atlanta [31 Oct 2004|03:08pm]

"I told Shane [Wilson] that I would try to get six-tenths for him and I got four or five. The track didn't
change for us. It was loose to start and it was loose in qualifying. We'll take it. We needed to gain a
bunch of tenths. We were 40th or something and a lot of guys are back there. I don't want to ever take a
provisional. I've only taken one in my life ever and I don't want to take another one."

HOW DID YOU GAIN SO MUCH? "Close your eyes, go fast, turn left, and grab a Red Bull from Robby Gordon."

HOW FRUSTRATING IS IT TO QUALIFY HERE AT NIGHT BUT RACE IN THE DAYLIGHT? "It's not really frustrating. It's no big deal. You just qualify at night. It's kind of neat. We'll take it. We gained four or five tenths or something like that and we knew we were going to need a lot of tenths just to make it on time. I think four or five will put us in the show. It's not going to be great but at least it will be in the top-38 and we'll be here on Sunday."

HOW FRUSTRATING IS IT TO HAVE YOUR NAME TOSSED AROUND IN THE RUMOR MILL? "It doesn't bother me. The Jasper team is working hard and the Kodak bunch has really been focused on getting the racecars built, get good racecars, and get on the racetrack and do well each week. It doesn't really affect us. We're out there trying to have a good time, trying to show everybody what we're doing and trying to get some good finishes. We had a couple at the end of this year."
